Architecture of Experience

A course that explores how museums shape memory, behavior, and meaning through space. This course blends museology, exhibition design, spatial syntax, and postmodern architecture to help you design immersive, inclusive, and narrative-rich cultural environments.

Objective

To explore how space, memory, and storytelling converge in the design of museums and exhibitions. This course investigates human behavior in cultural spaces, spatial syntax, and postmodern architectural thinking to create immersive, inclusive, and emotionally resonant museum environments. Through a blend of research, critical theory, and design practice, participants reimagine how institutions hold and share stories.

Modules

• Foundations of museum studies, cultural preservation, and contemporary curatorial practice.

• Wayfinding, spatial flow, cognitive mapping, attention spans, and dwell time.

• Analyzing how spatial configurations influence experience, perception, and interaction.

• Studying iconic museums and cultural centers for their spatial, formal, and narrative expression.

• Storyboarding, object curation, scenography, and emotional pacing.

• Designing atmospheres with sound, light, text, multimedia, and tactile surfaces.

• Designing for diverse audiences with equity, sensitivity, and open interpretation.

• Visits (virtual or physical) to local and global museums, documentation, user mapping.

• Final project includes spatial design, curatorial strategy, and walkthrough simulation.

Outcome

A detailed proposal for a museum or exhibition space, complete with narrative flow, spatial design, accessibility strategy, and visitor behavior mapping. The final deliverables include digital renders, mockups, process documentation, and a curatorial intent statement.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Our selective application process begins with your Statement of Purpose and portfolio showcasing your most distinctive work, followed by a creative aptitude task. Shortlisted candidates are invited to a personal online conversation to ensure alignment with the program’s vision and standards.

FEE STRUCTURE & SCHOLARSHIP

This program is designed as an intensive, high-impact learning journey. The fee is 12,000 INR per month, tailored to the duration you choose.

We believe that exceptional talent and strong commitment deserve to be nurtured. Learners demonstrating outstanding potential reflected in their Statement of Purpose, Portfolio, and Aptitude Interview performance may secure scholarships covering up to 50% of the total fee.
